The future of benefits: Global trends

On May 4 and 5, Normandin Beaudry was pleased to welcome its partners from MBWL International for two days of discussions on the global challenges influencing benefits and total rewards. Held this year in Montreal, the event was attended by over 80 people.

Two days that redefine benefits and total rewards

The first day, May 4, was dedicated to major international client organizations. It opened with a talk by Charles-Philippe David, of the Raoul-Dandurand Chair, who presented the current global context. This introduction helped frame the discussions within a perspective where geopolitical, economic and social factors are increasingly shaping organizations’ benefits and total rewards strategies.

Sophie Limoges, Principal, Health and Benefits, Alexandre Bernard, Partner, Investment Consulting, Dianne Gavieres, Principal, Communication and Francis Lemaire, Consultant, Health and Benefits from Normandin Beaudry presented a preview of Canadian trends in employee benefits, highlighting the need for organizations to adapt their practices to an ever-changing environment:

  • Managing uncertainty by taking into account geopolitical tensions, labour pressures and strategic priorities;
  • Control costs without decreasing value;
  • Preparing the future of benefits by fully leveraging new possibilities created by technology and artificial intelligence.

Fednav, Cirque du Soleil and WSP presented in the afternoon, joined by Jean-Grégoire Morand, Partner, Investment Consulting and Philip Longpré, Partner, Compensation, Talent and Culture at Normandin Beaudry. Their insights shed light on the complexities of international operations, from managing teams distributed across multiple regions, to ensuring consistent practices in very different markets.

On the second day, May 5, the four MBWL International shareholders Milliman, Barnett WaddinghamLurse and Normandin Beaudry, gathered and were joined by special guest Origin. Together, the shareholders emphasized the strength of this joint venture and the importance of combining expertise to meet global challenges such as rapidly changing organizational needs, rising plan costs and program consistency from one country to another.

The day also featured a conference at Ubisoft’s Montreal offices, giving attendees an inside look at the HR challenges and realities in Ubisoft’s industry and the company’s total rewards strategy.

As host of the 2026 edition of MBWL International, Normandin Beaudry sought to provide a space conducive to learning, sharing and innovation. These two days underscored how essential a truly global vision is for supporting organizations and their teams in times of transformative change.

Excellence spans the globe! As an independent and equal shareholder in MBWL International since 2023, Normandin Beaudry’s reach now extends to 50+ countries.
