Founded in 1992, Normandin Beaudry is a leading player in Canada’s actuarial and total rewards consulting sector. In 2023, Normandin Beaudry enhanced its global presence by becoming an equal shareholder of MBWL International, a joint venture between Milliman, Barnett Waddingham and Lurse, while maintaining its independent status.
We are looking for a Payroll and Group Benefits Manager to join our Human Resources team. This is a temporary, hybrid position of 14 months with the possibility of permanent status.
Reporting to the Human Resources Business Partner, you will be responsible for processing payroll and administering employee benefits while providing outstanding customer service to employees.
Main responsibilities:
Payroll management (twice a month):
- Carry out the complete payroll cycle for the entire organization, on schedule.
- Perform reconciliations, extractions and analyses of payroll-related reports and miscellaneous calculations.
- Comply with different pieces of legislation (tax laws, labour standards, etc.).
- Coordinate production of ROEs, T4s, RL-1s and other documents.
- Prepare various data files related to the compensation cycle (salary review, bonus management, etc.)
Group benefits management:
- Manage the group insurance and group savings plans, as well as other benefits, such as the telemedicine service and employee assistance program.
- Follow up on disability insurance cases, enrolments, exemptions and claims with insurers and internal/external partners.
- Participate in annual renewals, validation and updating of booklets/communications, and data analysis and processing.
- Provide support to employees and inform managers of changes and special situations (maternity leave, gradual returns, departures).
- Reconcile plan invoices with contributions and premiums.
- Prepare communications at various times of the year in collaboration with the internal communication team and our group benefits consultants.
- Act as liaison with our providers.
- Analyze current plans and suggest improvements based on members’ needs.
- Participate in the development of the group benefits budget.
- Actively participate in annual governance committees.
Onboarding and integration:
- Design and facilitate onboarding and integration sessions on pay and benefits for new employees.
Organizational support and continuous improvement:
- Ensure daily management of administrative files.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, insurance, pay or any other administrative matter.
- Help draft and update internal policies and write corporate communications.
- Collaborate closely with the finance department.
- Help organize internal events and groups (health initiatives, themed days, involvement in committees, etc.).
- Participate in various projects to improve processes and digital tools (SharePoint, forms, payroll/HRIS interfaces)
Skills and qualities:
To be eligible for this position, you must have a college diploma (DEC) in administration, accounting, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration in a similar position.

- Advanced to expert proficiency in Excel.
- PCP designation with the National Payroll Institute—a major asset.
- Experience implementing a payroll system—an asset.
- Experience working for a consulting firm—an asset.
