Human Resources Business Partner, Employee Experience and Compensation

Founded in 1992, Normandin Beaudry is a leader in Canada’s actuarial and total rewards consulting services. From its offices in Montreal, Toronto and Quebec City, a team of over 350 people serves clients across Canada in various areas of total rewards expertise: pension, savings, investment consulting, pension plan administration, group benefits, compensation, health, performance and communication.

 

In 2023, Normandin Beaudry expanded its reach and became an independent, equal shareholder of MBWL International, a joint venture already comprising Milliman, Barnett Waddingham and Lurse.

 

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources and Administrative Services, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) plays a central role, which is both strategic and tactical, in implementing our talent initiatives and priorities in the aim of fostering the engagement and development of human capital.

 

We are looking for a human resources generalist with a major in compensation. The HRBP will support the teams and managers of their designated clients throughout the employee lifecycle.

 

In addition, the HRBP plays a crucial role in developing and implementing innovative programs in the areas of total rewards, engagement, overall health & well-being, performance management, and diversity & inclusion, while aligning these initiatives with the company’s strategic objectives.

Main responsibilities

  • Acting as a partner and strategic consultant to managers by providing the best solutions in various areas of human resources management
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and HR best practices in order to influence strategies, tools, systems, policies and procedures
  • Leading and supporting the development of company-wide policies, procedures and programs, particuarly in the area of compensation, in alignment with industry best practices
  • Providing analytical support and advice related to compensation, within the framework of corporate objectives
  • Designing and implementing annual compensation benchmarking activities while making recommendations based on market data analysis and equity issues
  • Helping to prepare materials for planned and ad hoc meetings on employees, culture and compensation throughout the year
  • Promoting employee engagement; collaborating with managers and teams to implement programs and initiatives related to engagement and culture in line with corporate objectives
  • Actively participating in the evolution of the corporate culture by facilitating the implementation of inclusive practices that promote employee well-being
  • Supporting managers in onboarding new employees by helping to prepare a solid integration plan for each new hire
  • Monitoring performance indicators and proposing adjustments to existing initiatives to maximize their impact and the creation of value
  • Keeping informed of trends in compensation, engagement and change management
  • Collaborating with the other members of the HR team (recruitment, training, talent management) to align compensation programs with other HR practices
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary HR projects by providing expertise on compensation and engagement

Competencies sought

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources management, industrial relations or a related field
  • Member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (asset)
  • French/English bilingualism is essential (written and spoken): fluency in written and spoken English is required, as the incumbent will be frequently in contact with English-speaking clients
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a similar position with prior experience in all aspects of the HRBP role, including performance improvement, compensation, engagement and change management
  • Ability to innovate and propose solutions that are tailored to company needs
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment in constant evolution
