We are seeking an experienced investment consultant for our Montréal or Québec office. The Investment Consulting practice at Normandin Beaudry provides advisory services to institutional-level investors. Among our clients, we serve savings plans, pension plans from the private, municipal/public/parapublic, and university sectors, as well as investment funds and foundations. In addition, through its Private Management subsidiary, Normandin Beaudry offers investment consulting services to high-net-worth families. To serve these clients, the team is one of the largest in Canada, with diverse professional backgrounds and unparalleled depth.

Your mission

Under the direction of the Head of the Investment Consulting practice, you will be expected to:

 

  • Develop and implement investment consulting strategies
    • Design, recommend, and update investment strategies tailored to the needs of institutional clients.
    • Perform in-depth analyses of asset portfolios and propose optimizations in line with financial and regulatory objectives.
  • Provide advisory support to clients
    • Serve as a resource person for clients on all matters related to investment management.
    • Present results, strategies, and investment opportunities during client meetings.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary manner
    • Work closely with savings and pension plan specialists, and with Normandin Beaudry’s research teams to ensure an integrated approach.
    • Participate in the development of service offerings or customized solutions.
  • Analyze markets and conduct economic monitorin
    • Continuously monitor macroeconomic trends, financial markets, and asset classes.
  • Prepare analyses, performance reports, and recommendations related to the economic environment and portfolio managers.
  • Contribute to the development of approaches related to sustainable investment or the integration of ESG factors in various analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal policies
    • Ensure that all recommendations comply with investment policies, legal requirements, and best governance practices.
    • Stay informed about new regulations and market trends.
  • Participate in innovation and continuous improvement
    • Identify innovation opportunities in processes and tools used in asset management.
    • Share best practices within the team.
  • Engage in professional development and knowledge transfer
    • Mentor or support less experienced team members.
  • Participate in internal or external training activities to maintain excellence in technical knowledge and consulting skills.

Requirements

You must hold a relevant degree such as a bachelor’s in finance, economics, actuarial science, or another related field, and meet the following requirements:

 

  • Have 5 to 10 years of professional experience.
  • Hold professional designations or licenses, such as CFA, CAIA, FSA, FCIA, ASA, or any other relevant designation, is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Keen business acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to anticipate client needs and market trends.
  • Experience in developing asset management strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Mastery of finance-related concepts and genuine intellectual curiosity about the subject.
  • Proficiency in English and French. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required as you will have frequent dealings with clients whose business language is English.
